This volume presents the first critical edition of the Latin Alexander, On Fevers – that is, the Prologue and Book 3 of the late antique Latin compilation based on the medical works of the great Byzantine doctor Alexander of Tralles. The edition offers, beside the text with English translation, a full critical apparatus, an annotated Greek text, and detailed textual and philological notes.

David Langslow FBA is Hulme Professor of Latin in the University of Manchester, where he has been Professor of Classics since 1999, after fifteen years at Oxford as Lecturer in Latin Philology & Linguistics. He is the author of Medical Latin in the Roman Empire (2000), and of an annotated English edition of Jacob Wackernagel’s Lectures on Syntax (2009). He laid the groundwork for the present edition in The Latin Alexander Trallianus (2006).
